Your final assessment!

This is the last assessment for Unit 2 Media before you begin on Unit 3.

In this task, you are required to design an educational campaign to both:
  1. Promote the benefits and potential of new media, and
  2. Warn of the possible legal, ethical and/or social issues of new media.

You may work on this campaign by yourself or with a partner (No more than 2 people!). The campaign may take the form of a:
  1. Pamphlet
  2. Infomercial
  3. Website
  4. Podcast
Think about how you can present your information. Perhaps a chat with an billionaire tech entrepreneur in a tech podcast? or an interview with a Jeffrey Bezos trying to sell a humane piece of technology on an infomercial? Perhaps a website set up to fight the harmful effects of fake news? Or a pamphlet dropped into letterboxes around the neighbourhood from conspiracy theorists concerned about privacy online? Maybe you are aliens from the future warning the humans about misuse of technology?? - You can be very imaginative and creative here!

Your educational campaign's target audience is Australian teens. You need to research and develop a campaign designed to inform your audience of the following information:
  • A brief history of mass media communication,
  • Examples of ways that new media technologies are impacting traditional industries,
  • Examples of the potential social, legal and ethical issues of new technology and social media, and
  • Examples of humane technology

This task is designed to consolidate on all the information covered in 'Media and Change' - plus it asks you to extend yourself and do some of your own research and thinking. Before you make the educational campaign, it will be important to carefully look over the assessment criteria below and begin collecting evidence and research to ensure your campaign is backed with examples and confident analysis.
