  • Radio advertising is far more influential due to the relaxed nature of its audience… they are less distracted and listen intently
  • Older audiences listen to radio a lot as they have grown up with it and trust it.
  • Radio can be very localised and form greater connections to their audience

Internet

  • Unrestrictive nature of the internet makes it very influential. Because it is unregulated, we have access to anything and everything
  • Sense of ownership over the internet because we are the creators. Two step flow of information makes the internet very influential. 
  • Access: almost everyone has access to the internet.
  • Trust: because the internet is new and constantly evolving, we believe and trust in it more than older forms of media.
  • Marketing is specifically targeted towards you – increasing its influence

Video Games

  • Video games are interactive and the physical application of actions causes greater influence
  • Generations have grown up with video games and its influence spreads across many age ranges
  • Video games can give you a sense of escapism and accomplishment

Film and Television

  • Idealised versions of reality. Hollywood. Celebrities. Money. Success. Fantasy worlds.
  • We want to be like characters and celebrities we see on TV and film.
  • Tradition. Social norms. We have grown up with cinema for 100+ years and TV for 60 years. It is the most popular media form.
  • Water cooler effect. We don’t want to miss out on discussion. Watching TV and movies socialises us. 
  • Surveillance. TV helps us understand the world around us
